HPEV - Battery design

HPEV (High Performance Electric Vehicle) focuses on the electrical design and development of a battery pack able to power a 1650kg vehicle from 0-300Kph in 9s. The study calculates the vehicles’ power performance requirements through the use of an Excel Road model dependent on speed/time duty cycles and other fixed vehicle parameters. The identified requirements are then used to select an applicable battery cell, battery pack arrangement, bus bars and other EDS components.

EVAC - Electric vehicle thermal management

This ongoing case study is looking in the thermal management system design for the passengers cabin and energy storage system of an electric vehicle, implementing OEM high voltage components (compressor and heater) from series production vehicles. The goal is to develop a ready-to-go system at a lower cost to appeal to niche vehicle manufacturers and the EV conversion market.
